Rotary Youth Leadership Awards (RYLA) is Rotary's leadership training program for young people. RYLA participants can be ages 14-30, but most clubs and districts choose to focus on a narrower age range, such as 14-18 or 19-30.

RYLA emphasizes leadership, citizenship, and personal growth, and aims to

  • Demonstrate Rotary's respect and concern for youth
  • Provide an effective training experience for selected youth and potential leaders
  • Encourage leadership of youth by youth
  • Recognize publicly young people who are rendering service to their communities
Woodstock-Oxford Rotary Club has chosen Greg Borris as our RYLA participant this year.  Greg is a returning grade 12 student from Ecole Secondaire Ste-Marie. Greg is the first ever student Assistant Director at the Grand Theatre and St. Mary's High School. He is a composer, director and choreographer, having created an award winning ballet for the Sears Drama Festival.

He has been deeply involved with student parliament and is graduating this year as Prime Minister. He has also served as a legislative page and participated in mock parliamentary sessions at Queen's Park in Toronto. Greg has maintained an above 90% average throughout french first language high school.

Congratulations Greg!  We hope you enjoy your week of learning and friendship in Orangeville this May.
