Guest speaker; Nelson Simard , Chairman for Communities in Bloom
Nelson explained how Woodstock became involved and how dedicated the people are that are doing all the organizing.
Sylvania(our sister city) and Woodstock became 2nd in 2003 against St Thomas and their sister city,
This year Woodstock went for the International competition and Woodstock raised the bar for everyone involved by producing a beautifull booklet and calender.
This year again came in close to winning, there were only 8 points difference between the top 4 cities.
Nelson explained that we(Woodstock)did not lose, the community gained, the pride everyone takes in their property and City by making it look good.
Nelson talked about putting Woodstock on the map, by putting up a Entrance sign at the 401, over 100 communities participated in communities in bloom, and 80 out of the 100 have an entry sign, advertising their community.
It is not only the City department that makes the City look good, all the citizens that are proud of their gardens are playing a big part in the CVommunities in Bloom.
Rama thanked Nelson for doing such a great job and spending so much time for the Community.
