Doug Vincent, District Governor and member of this club, attended our meeting on October 5.  Although this was not his official District Governor visit, he was our guest speaker for the evening.

Jack Bingham acted as Sergeant-at-Arms and was kind in not administering any fines, but collected many "happy bucks", including one for the Mayor making it to his ??th birthday.  Happy Birthday Michael Harding!

DG Doug presented to President Pieter the banner for the home club of the District Governor.  He is the first member of this club to serve as a DG.  Doug spoke about the challenges of serving as DG, some of his objectives, and also provided us with an update on the upcoming District Conference (October 21-23 in Niagara Falls).  There is an effort to provide improved continuity from the DG to the next DG by using a three year cycle involving the past, current and incoming DG's.  Doug shared his objective of having a different project in each month of the 2nd half of his year (January to June), each project with an international focus.  In his update on the District Conference, Doug announced that the keynote speaker would be the Canadian ambassador to the United Nations Paul Heinbecker, he spoke about the WCS Projects Fair that will be held and encouraged members to attend the conference for their own particular reasons.
