Presiding:  Paul Bradford, President

We were pleased to induct a new member, Jantine Stam.  Congratulations, Jantine, and welcome!

Rama Murthi provided each member with an update letter regarding contributions to The Rotary Foundation.

Paul Bradford distributed flyers to members to be used to invite guests to our meeting of January 3, 2007.  Bring a guest!

Paul reported that the Woodstock Hospital Foundation has confirmed the naming opportunity for our donation to the building campaign.  The Stress Testing Unit will be named in recognition of the Rotary Club of Woodstock-Oxford.

Our guest speaker was Chris Steven, Executive Director of the Oxford County Children's Aid Society.  Chris joined the Oxford County CAS in July of this year.  He explained that the mandate of the CAS is to protect vulnerable children.  With approximately 70 employees and a budget of $12 million, the CAS has about 190 children in their care.  Nearly 40 social workers handle caseloads from 18 to 28 each.  There are about 100 new investigations conducted each month.  The CAS provides foster care, some institutional care, and looks after adoptions.  The Oxford County CAS is shifting their approach to focussing more on outcomes.

Norm Narancsik shared correspondence of thanks from the Oxford Community Police Service and the Woodstock Hospital Foundation.

Pieter Stam reported that the incoming exchange student from Mexico will be arriving in January.  Steve and Susan Halyk will be the first host family.
