President Pieter distributed a sample wallet card pamphlet entitled "What is Rotary?"  Norm will have these available for members to give out.

Our guest speaker was Karen Huston, curator of the Woodstock Museum National Historic Site.  Karen gave us an update on some of the current happenings at the museum.  The current exhibit is about the history of the Oxford Rifles and a travelling exhibit has just arrived.  It is "Passages to Freedom: Secrets of the Underground Railroad."  On February 20, the museum will celebrate Heritage Day with three special speakers.  A major focus of the museum is the 14 education programs.  4000 students participated in the education programs last year.  Later this year there will be an exhibit on Woodstock's shifting landmarks.  The museum is updating its database for the 10,000 photographs it maintains.  These photos will help demonstrate the change of landmarks in Woodstock and how these landmarks give a sense of place, a sense of belonging in an individual community.  Karen coaxed our members to recall various city landmarks.

Rama Murthi spoke briefly to the club about the Rotary Foundation.  He is working to arrange a representative or two from the foundation to speak to our club.  The proceeds from last year's silent auction at the Fish Fry allowed us to contribute US$100 per member to the Rotary Foundation.  This year's goal is to contribute US$200 per member.  The current overall level of contribution per member is available from President Pieter or through the Rotary International website in the Member Access area.
