Sargeant At Arms: Paul Bradford - Paul received many contributions from a variety of fines, happy bucks and sad bucks.

 

Bingo: Mike Sheehan provided an update on the upcoming Bingos.  There is another midnight bingo this Friday and the same team is working this week.  A roster for the upcoming Bingos has been distributed.  Anyone scheduled, who cannot make a bingo is responsible for getting their own replacements.

 

Silent Auction: Coral Sheehan handed out a breakdown of the silent auction items from last year.  The information was presented in two formats including a breakdown of items, their value and the final bid and the second format showing the members, what items they obtained and who donated the items.  She requested that everyone start to think about items.  We hope to exceed the 88 items that we had last year.  She asked that everyone try to avoid bringing items to the hall the day of the event.

 

Membership: Paul updated the members regarding our recruitment strategy.  A list of potential members has been developed and existing members have identified whom they would contact.  Paul encouraged everyone to work hard to try and build the membership.

 

Fish Fry: Rama reported that labels have been made up to put on the posters that provide a contact phone number for ticket sales.  He focused on the importance of sell, sell, sell to ensure success.

 

Guest Speaker, District Governor Doug Vincent provided an informative and enlightening program of the history of Rotary and the important role that Rotarians at the various clubs play in the success of Rotary worldwide.  He discussed the 5 star goals of the Woodstock Oxford Rotary Club.

 

Goal 1              Membership: number 1 in many clubs and also the number 1 district goal

                        The key to successful membership recruitment - just ask!

Goal 2              Community Service: have had good success helping those in need in both

                        global and local community.

Goal 3              Communication: two way communication is good communication.  Two forms of communication - internal and external.  Keeping each other aware and informed.  Share with community what we are doing and have a positive image in the community.

Goal 4              Fundraising: Raffle was extremely successful event.  Fish Fry with Auction has been a successful event for 20 years and people continue to support.

Goal 5              International Service: Positive feeling of being able to assist those in other countries in need.  Encouraged members to go to these countries to see first hand what our work and contributions actually accomplish.

 

Rotary Foundation Matching Grants: Governor Doug rounded out his presentation providing a detailed explanation and entertaining magic show of what happens when we contribute to the Foundation in support of international projects.

 

Remember: if we shoot for the moon and miss, we will still be amongst the stars!
