Finemaster Steve Halyk fined everybody who was not wearing a tie or skirt. Happy buck for Wim who is going to Holland and Tom Hemsworth that is son Mark has arrived savely in Zambia.
Norm introduces the guest speaker Mr. Martin Nyland. He is the 6th of seven sons of Dutch immigrants. Born in Dublin, ON, went to highschool in Stratford and to the University of Western Ontario. He posseses a Bachelor of Arts degree as well as some post graduate courses. His goal in life is to help people live with joy, vibrancy, health and laughter.
As a Certified Laughter Leader trained under the founder, Dr. Madan Kataria, Martin has setup a laughter club in Woodstock. Currently the club is not active. There are many benifits to laughter. It is very democratic. We are all the same when we laugh. Why do we laugh: * joke (also when we don't get it)
* when there is anxiety/stress
* look down on somebody
* just for fun
Everybody can laugh on comment. This is called laughter yoga. Martin gave a demonstration. After this the spirit in the room was very positive. Freedom in body and mind.
Second part of the presenation was about Emotional Freedom Techniques. This is the nr. 1 self help technique worldwide. Very broad range of problems can be cured with EFT. You do not need drugs or needles. It looks a little bit like accupuncture and uses a gentle tapping sequence along the body's energy meridians.
The mother website of EFT is www.emofree.com For most people with problem, stuck emotions from the past are the cause. Peter Stam asked how Martin treats a patient. Keith offered to volunteer and Martin managed to remove some of the pain in Keith's knee.
Wim Duizer thanked Martin on behalf of the club.
President Mike talked about he nominations for our club. For position of director the following people are nominated and have accepted the nomination: Jantine Stam, Rama Murthi and Paul LeRoy.
Incoming president: Erik Tremblay and Wim Duizer
Secretary will be appointed by the executive and Tim Koetsier will remain treasurer. This is the first week of the nominations. On March 12th and 19th there will be two more rounds of nomination for the year 2008-2009. Everybody can nominate someone for the executive and a nomination is final after the nominee accepts the nomination.
