Our guest presenter for the evening was none other than our own Exchange Student from Mexico, Flor, who made her final presentation to the Club giving an overview of her activities for the year since she arrived last January.

Through means of power point and verbal commentary, Flor was able to share her excitement of seeing snow for the first time in her life which she soon came to enjoy (except that it was cold) by participating in winter activities such as snowmobiling, skating, curling, tobogganing, building snowmen and snow forts.
She was also introduced to other seasonal sports such as hockey, basketball and baseball as a spectator by various Rotarians.

In the summer she joined 12 other Exchange Students from the District on a trip to the East Coast as part of her "learning about Canada" experience.
Starting in Nova Scotia, the group toured Halifax, Peggy's Cove, P.E.I. and New Brunswick. Quebec City proved to be her favourite city.
A visit to Montreal followed and on Canada Day, Ottawa.
Visits to Northern Ontario, including Sudbury were also part of the tour and while in the north in cottage country she experienced canoeing for the first time.
During the summer she spent a month at Wasaga Beach at her host parent's cottage with their family.

All in all, Flor emphasized that she has enjoyed her time in Canada and in particular with her host parents and the Rotary Clubs who sponsored her.
In conclusion, before donning a costume to participate in her first ever "Trick or Treat" Halloween experience, she thanked our Club and the various members who took time to make her stay a most memorable experience.

Our rookie Sergeant at Arms had only a few fines tonight.
Her team also had a fill in the blank quiz on the Mission Statement of Rotary International.
The mission statement is as follows:
The mission of Rotary International, a worldwide association of Rotary clubs, is to provide service to others, to promote high ethical standards, and to advance world understanding, goodwill, and peace through its fellowship of business, professional, and community leaders.

John Garton was the winner of the quiz!
Happy/Sad Bucks: Piet was happy that he was going to the UN this weekend.
Paul Bradford was happy he was going to gamble in Las Vegas in a few weeks.
Norm was sad that he had lost some of his wisdom along with his wisdom tooth.
Paul Bradford was the 50/50 winner tonight, but didn't draw the ace of spades.
The meeting was adjourned at 8:00p.m.
