Ellen Hutcheson will be speaking on how she survived and dealt with Polio.

Ellen contracted Polio in 1959 after the vaccines were being given.  After 3 months in hospital she came home with a wheelchair and was being fitted for braces and crutches.   She attended IDCI in Ingersoll and The University of Western Ontario in London where Ellen received her Education Degree.   Ellen worked as supply teacher for 3 years before
she was hired at Huron Park SS.  Ellen has taught here for 27 years.    Polio only created little glitches in her life.  It did not stop her from School, driving, or particapating in a number of recreational activies.
Ellen said, maybe I should tell you that my family was assisted by the Kiwanis Club in Ingersoll during this time.   There was no Rotary Club in Ingersoll.   Without their help there are also many things I would not have been exposed to or been able to afford the braces every year and crutches and rides to London every week for therapy.
Thanks, Ellen
