Hi Wdstk-Oxford Rotary friends: I want to invite you to come with me to the United Nations for 'Rotary Day at the UN' on November 3rd in New York City. I've mentioned this was in the planning to some of you. You will also be invited to meet the Canadian UN Ambassador during a visit to the Canadian Mission on Friday afternoon, November 2nd. The Saturday meeting is scheduled from 9:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. at UN Headquarters and will include presentations and panel discussions addressing key humanitarian issues such as water, health, literacy, and hunger. Tours will also be available. Under the theme "Rotary and the United Nations: Sharing," United Nations officials, representatives from key nongovernmental organizations (NGOs), and Rotary International leaders will all address the group. There also will be a separate youth program for high-school age students, so plan to bring your teenagers. Registration for Saturday is US$35. including a box lunch. You can download a registration form from the events section at www.rotary7080.org or www.rotary.org Please send your registration directly to the US address given. For the Canadian Mission visit, you must register with me via email. Note for security check reasons, this must be done by October 20th.

Accommodation is expensive and tight because of a Marathon in NYC this same weekend. Ithaca NY Rotarians are happy to home host us the night before and after, then have us have drive with them to NYC. As an FYI, the Picwick where I have stayed in the past has changed hands and is now very expensive. So I will likely stay across the river at the Lyndhurst Quality Inn to save about $150. per night with a $35. taxi or 30 minute bus ride $3 into the city centre. I can provide details upon request. I hope you will consider joining me, RI Director Monty Audenart and RI President Wilf Wilkinson for this exciting experience. I know that some of you have asked about going on trips for Rotary and this is a great opportunity to spend a weekend in NYC. Come with me to learn about and celebrate Rotary's history of helping start the United Nations back in 1945. With best regards, Douglas W Vincent, RC Woodstock-Oxford
